Pam Saulsby, who for many years was a news anchor for WRAL-TV, has turned much of her attention to singing jazz. Her repertoire includes songs performed by Ella Fitzgerald. Pam will sing with the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra, directed by Gregg Gelb, and she will also be the narrator of this concert which pays tribute to the great big band music that was performed and recorded by top American Black Bands of the Swing Era. Tunes by Duke Ellington and Count Basie plus by lesser known leaders such as Fletcher Henderson, Benny Carter and Jimmy Lunceford will be performed.
