WEST SIDE/LATIN SIDE: Kenton and Bernstein on Fire


The Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra, directed by Gregg Gelb, recipient of the 2018 Raleigh Arts Commission

Medal of Arts, highlights the music of two American giants — Stan Kenton and Leonard Bernstein — and the

influences  and use of Latin-based rhythms in their work.

This concert features Ramon Ortiz and Pako Santiago, two outstanding Latin percussionists and pianist

Stephen Anderson, founding member of the Dominican Jazz Project who promise to keep the fire going.
